The Backyard Ultra is an endurance race where competitors complete a 6.7 km loop every hour, on the hour, for as long as they can. Each lap must be completed within 60 minutes. Any runner who fails to start the next lap on time will be eliminated. The event continues until only one person is left running. The final runner must complete a final lap on their own and make it back within the hour to win the race. All other participants will be record as DNF (Did Not Finish).  


The race will start and finish on the grass park in between Signal Tower Museum and Gayfield football grounds. Address – Ladyloan, Arbroath, DD11 1QA, Scotland. Registration will be open from 09:00am – 11:00am. A safety briefing will be held at 11:50am before starting the race at 12:00pm. 

Prize money will be £10,000 for the winner. Laps 1,3,6 and 12 will all be ‘money laps’ as the winner of the lap will receive £100, if the male or female wins the lap in a kilt they’ll receive £200 (kilt must be worn for entire duration of their race). 

This race is directly helping the Arbroath community as 25% of race profits will be given to a local charity.
